The RealBiathlon website has new functionality for Patreon members. It allows you to search athletes based on Race, Season or Career data based on up to four measurements and filters. There are some limitations on the size of the result, so limiting down based on filters for the measures selected gives the best results. It then has a convenient download button to export the data into a CSV file for use in other tools, like Tableau for example.
In the example below I looked for all male athletes that had a lifetime (career) shooting percentage of 80% and over, and had at least 1,000 shots:
This created the following url: https://www.realbiathlon.com/patreon/search.html?gender=M&category=results&stat=TotalPercent&secondary=pronePercent&tertiary=standingPercent&quaternary=shots&discipline=NonTeam&level=allRaces&type=seasons&limit=400&max=100&min=80&min4=1000&desc=true
Exporting the data into a CSV and loading it into Tableau Public is a breeze. There it took a few minutes to show which athletes had the highest shooting percentage with the number of shots for example:
And another chart shows me that the majority of these athletes is better in Prone (blue) than Standing (orange):
Hover over the dots to see which athletes they are.
All in all a nice addition to an already great website for any biathlon lover, and another reason to consider a subscription.
