When watching biathlon races as a fan, our brain often gets triggered based on what we see and hear, leading to questions like “I wonder where JTB gained most of his lead?”, “Who would know what shot is missed most often?”, and “What is the youngest athlete on the podium, ever?”
As an athlete, you may want to know where you stand compared to your direct competitors for the season, or how you developed compared to your previous season.
A coach may want to have a clearer picture of your athletes, team, or nation and how they have developed over time, where improvements have been made compared to others, and what areas need more work.
With Triggers, you can get an answer to these questions in a visual presentation of all the available through the IBU results page!
What you get
I will analyze the required data, and present it visually in a clear and easy-to-understand “report”, allowing you to find evidence-based answers to your questions. The deliverables are based on three levels, shown in the table below:
- A one-page visual showing the result of the analysis;
- Posts on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook;
- A post on this website (main page under latest posts);
- I can export that post so you can add it to your own website;
- The one-pager in PDF format.

PS: if you prefer, I will not share anything about the request, and will deliver the results only to you.
Cost
For the time I put in, and the cost of data and software, I ask you to make a small donation based on the following guidelines:
- Minimum: $10
- Add $0.25 for every participant in the required dataset
A race participant is defined as any athlete who participates in one (team or individual) race and finishes that race; basically a combination of race_id and ibu_id.
For example:
- One athlete who races 14 races in the 2021-22 season and 12 in the following season would have 26 race participations;
- Belgium had 4(MR)+2(WSP)+3(MSP)+2(WPU)+1(MPU)+3(MIN)+1(WIN)+2(SMR)+4(MR) = 22 race participants at the Oberhof World Championship in 2023;
- Lisa Hauser had 206 individual “race participations” in her career (Feb. 20, 2023, 211 – 5 DNS/DNF)
I want to keep the cost low to encourage people to send in Trigger requests, so I leave it up to you how much you want to donate (min. $10). Any donation is appreciated, but I do ask you to respect the time and effort that goes into the request if you can afford more than the minimum.
